The Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) was dissolved at the end of October this year, and all its policing and administrative functions are now carried out by other institutions. One of these is the Institute of Registration and Notary (IRN), which will take on the responsibility for renewing residence permits.
In certain cases, it is possible to renew the residence permit automatically by using the online services of the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA).
For cases where automatic renewal is not possible, the request for renewal of the residence permit must be made at IRN’s counters, by prior appointment, except for investment activities and victims of human trafficking.
