Did you know that it’s possible to register the birth of your children, apply for the Citizen Card, and request Portuguese nationality, all simultaneously and online? This system was developed to provide support to Portuguese citizens residing abroad, offering them a simplified and efficient way to secure citizenship rights for their children.
This service covers children born abroad, under one year of age, and is available in countries that are signatories to Regulation (EU) No 2016/1191 of 6 July 2016 or the International Convention on the issuance of Multilingual Extracts from Civil Status Records (CIEC Convention).
Simultaneous birth registration and Citizen Card application are available in the following countries:
