The “nacionalidade online” service, launched on February 17, initially only covered nationality requests based on residency time in Portugal and for foreign citizens married to a Portuguese national for at least three years.
However, as of June 2023, the functionality has been expanded to include all types of Portuguese nationality requests.
This service is exclusively available to lawyers and solicitors through the Justice Portal, providing them with an exclusive and more efficient channel to handle the nationality requests of the citizens they represent.
On the platform, it is possible to submit new requests for Portuguese nationality, upload documents, make payments, and track the status of the processes, without the need for a physical visit to the Registry.
To access and use the platform, authentication with the professional certificate and digital signature is required, ensuring validation of the mandatary’s professional quality.
