This tool allows for the digitization and simplification of administrative procedures, offering greater accessibility and efficiency to citizens, companies, and the maritime sector.

SIRNavEm has been implemented in 40 registration services, including 29 on the mainland, 9 in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, and 2 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, covering the Madeira Free Zone.

Citizens, legal professionals, and businesses can submit registration requests in person at any registry office with a SIRNavEm desk or online through the portal registo.justica.gov.pt. Access is provided via Citizen Card, Digital Mobile Key, or professional certificates (lawyer, notary, and solicitor).

Through the digital service, users can:

  • Submit registration requests;
  • Check the status of applications;
  • Make pending payments;
  • Correct request details;
  • Receive notifications and alerts securely and conveniently.

From now on, all ship and vessel registration requests, regardless of the entry channel, will be processed through SIRNavEm, ensuring faster processing and greater transparency in electronic communication with applicants.

The next phase of the project aims to digitize 9,000 ships and integrate them into the system. Additionally, new features will be developed to ensure interoperability with the Bmar desk and data communication with the National System of Vessels and Seafarers (SNEM).

This project is part of IRN’s modernization strategy, based on the principles of digital-first, paperless, and only-once, promoting more efficient, intuitive, and sustainable processes.
